What Causes Pain In Lower Back Radiating Towards Leg And Buttocks?

I have a pulled muscle or nerve in my back ,the pain is in my lower back and sometimes goes down my leg and my butt.I have no idea how this happened. This happened five days ago. I went to the ER and they give me a shot of toradol it did nothing help please I am 73 years old

Hi.

Sounds like sciatic pain requiring the following:

+Rest
+Leg elevation
+Elastic bandage in the region
+Avoid strenuous exercise (which could have been the trigger)
+Sudden weight gain or weight loss could have cause it
+Lose weight if you are obese
+Sleep in a comfortable position
+Use oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. ibuprofen)
+Speak to your doctor about the available treatment options for the back or spine issue you have
