What Causes Pain In Middle Of Back Radiating Towards Abdomen?
Having severe pain from the middle of my back that radiates to my abdomen. I am unable to eat, because my stomach hurts so bad that I want to vomit. I have MS and thought I was experiencing the MS hug that I have had before. I have also had a heart attack 2 years ago, but I am unable to take my meds because they make me sick at my stomach. Please give me an is idea of what may be wrong. This has been a week now.
The pain you mentioned is more likely the radiating pain from the abdominal viscera. Since it radiates from your back to your abdomen associated with nausea and vomiting, rule out renal stones first. It may also be associated with high coloured urine, decreased urine output and sometimes with burning micturition.
Do an ultrasonogram of the abdomen to rule out renal stones. Drink plenty of water. You may take analgesics to reduce pain and anti-emetics to reduce vomiting symptoms. There may be chance for Gall bladder problems. If you sure with MS hug, stay hydrated, take at least 8 hours of sleep, yoga and exercises.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
