Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 13 year old son had a third ventriculostomy (due to a glioma on the brain stem - he had hydrocephalus) five days ago and since then he complains of pain in the muscles behind his upper legs (right below the buttox) making it diffucult to walk upright. Is this a result of the 3rd V?
As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. It is unlikely to be due to ventriculostomy. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. An MRI scan can be considered for further assessment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
