What Causes Pain In My Rib Area At Top Of Incision?

I had right kidney / tumor removed (large incision due to size of tumor necking out of the top of my kidney) about 8 months ago. Had been having some pain in my rib area at top of incision that felt muscular. I may have lifted something too heavy at work. This was improving gradually until I sneezed hard suddenly while leaned back on the sofa. I heard a popping sound with severe pain which has continued. Especially painful when I move and even when I try simple things like clearing my throat. Very excruciating pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a rib fracture. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain. I also suggest to avoid movements that can trigger the symptoms. The symptoms will relieve gradually.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
