Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Rib Cage After Taking Antibiotics For Fever?
Yes. I went to the ER after having high grade fever for 3 days. Aches throughout my whole body, chills, vomiting, no appetite. They said I had a Bladder infection. I have been on antibiotics for 2 days now. I have begun experiencing very sharp, intermittent pains just below the center of my rib cage. The pain goes from front to back. It does not last long but it has been going on all day now.
Possible issue with acute gastritis which will show up as pain upper abdomen, lower rib cage and radiation to back as well. Simultaneous intake of proton pump inhibitor as omeprazole or pantoprazole or sucralfate suspension on empty stomach will help a great deal. Should avoid stress and anxiety which can cause more problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
