What Causes Pain In Rib Cage Radiating To The Back?
On February 1st I was hospitalized for pain in the lower left side of my ribs that radiated to my back. The left side of my abdomen where the pain was became swollen and very tender. Once in the hospital I had an x-ray, ultrasound, and blood tests. Everything looked normal except that my colon had extra amounts of feces in it so I was given golytely to clean me out. That did nothing to ease the pain so I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, and a biopsy. They found that I have gastritis and I was given omeprazole. I was sent home and told to take acetaminophen. Those medicines do nothing to help the pain and now everything I eat makes me go to the restroom and my stomach hurts. The pain and tenderness in my ribs is back but it is now coupled with pain in my chest that is worsened by bending over. I cannot breath regulaly and deep breaths hurt. The pain in my ribs also radiates down to my hip bone.
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The symptoms seem to be related to costochondritis. I suggest using Acetaminophen three times a day. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application.
Hope my answer was helpful.
