Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. Most mornings I wake up and my ribs really ache, I m not sure why. I don t sleep very well at night and often moving around. But sometimes they ache that bad I can hardly move. Any suggestions that might explain what this is or why this happens? Many thanks Louise.
Pain in your ribs can be due to various reasons. so we need to have a detailed history and examination for that. First of all you need to rule out any kind of injury/ trauma to the ribs. rib pain can be due to pulled muscles and rib fractures.
Sometimes due to underlying inflammation (swelling ) of the lungs v, this kind of pain can occur. Besides diseases of bones like calcium or vitamin d deficiency can be associated with such kinds of pains. These are the common causes. I will suggest that you should take some painkillers, apply the pain-relieving gel. If still, it does not improve then you should get some investigations done like vitamin d levels, calcium, X-ray chest, and complete blood count.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
