Hi,
If you had a myocardial contusion, it is important to be evaluated and treated by a healthcare provider. While EKGs may be normal, further testing such as an
echocardiogram or cardiac MRI may be necessary to fully evaluate the heart muscle for any damage or abnormalities. It is also important to monitor for any signs or symptoms of
heart failure, such as
shortness of breath, swelling in the legs, or
chest pain.
Regarding your rib pain, it is common to experience rib fractures or contusions after an upper body trauma. These injuries can be painful and may take several weeks to months to fully heal. It is important to continue following up with your healthcare provider for the management of your pain and to monitor for any complications such as
pneumonia or chest wall infections.
Stress can also exacerbate symptoms of pain and can hurt your overall health. Continuing to take your medication and working with your healthcare provider to manage stress through therapy or other interventions can be helpful.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
