I have had two doses of gaviscon this morning and 2 gas X without relief. I am having significant pain in th eright side of my chest, back, throat & head. I have had a stomach ulcer in the past and have a high production of stomach acid. What can I do or take now to relieve the pain? Mary Kathyn

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

According to your narration, this relates to possibility of:
•     Pathology involving lower lung (effusion, pneumonia, and others)
•     Costochondral/neurotic pain through intercostal nerve fibers
•     Liver/gall bladder/biliary system problems occasionally as gall stone, liver cyst, abscess or others
•     Instant dose of tablet Tylenol will give you relief in 1 hour, but require work-up with the doctor for diagnosis and further management

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
