Hello,
You have history of trauma on the chest by a car many years back. Now you have pain and discomfort in the right side of the chest. The pain may be indicative of some trauma / injury or inflammation, untreated
rib fracture, sternum injury,
lung injury, etc. A blow on the chest can also cause injury to the heart, blood vessels, etc. Even a minor injury can cause
chest pain for days after the injury. Deep breathing, coughing, or sneezing can increase the pain.
Rib fracture causes pain get worse on deep breathing or coughing or when the injured area gets pressed. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP or orthopedics, get imaging tests and other routine investigations (blood tests and
urinalysis) done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. You will be accordingly treated at the earliest. In the meantime, for relief you can take antacids and pain relieving medicines like
Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when needed after food.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
