What Causes Pain In Right Wrist And Tightness Between Neck And Shoulder?

About two weeks ago I noticed pain in my right wrist when I put weight on it. A week ago it suddenly got worse. Pain on the radial side and around my wrist along with swelling and tightness between my neck and shoulder so, I began to ice my wrist, wear a brace and take ibuprofen to get the swelling down but I have seen no change. How long should I wait before I call my doctor?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in right wrist and tightness between neck and shoulder . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like carpal tunnel syndrome , tendinitis , cervical radiculopathy or cervical spondolysis . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI and doctor will ask you to perform few movements to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory , vitamin supplements and recommend stretching exercises and physical therapy . For now apply warm compresses to neck, shoulder and arms .
