Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Shoulder And Collarbone Post Uterine Cyst Removal Procedure?
I had surgery yesterday to have cysts removed from my right ovary, scar tissue removed and the lining of my uterus removed. Ever since I woke up from the anesthesia my shoulders and collarbones have been hurting worse than my stomach where I had three incisions done for the surgery. The pain medication they prescribed me doesn t help relieve this pain at all. Was just wondering if this is normal and how long it lasts.
If symptoms persist discuss it with your surgeon as during anesthesia or prolonged posture abnormality during surgery can cause muscle spasm at time. If spinal anaesthesia had been used it may cause such side effects. If OTC analgesic like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen doesn't help more potent analgesic like Tramadol may be used.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
