What Causes Pain In Shoulder And Difficulty In Lifting Arms?
My husband is nearly 84.This past 10 days he has had pain in his right shoulder and cannot raise his arm up very far only about elbow height but it hurts too much for him to go further. He has had a nurse here Friday morning and she put Dencorub on it and as his lung capacity is only around 20% all afternoon after she left he was finding it interfering with his breathing .I suggested heat bag and that has helped a bit but is not the answer. It is Sunday morning here for wondered if you have any other ideas please? .I will get him an appointment tomorrow to see his doctor.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Pain in right shoulder and inability to raise arm is suggestive of a musculoskeletal disorder. There are large number of musculoskeletal disorders which can cause difficulty in lifting arm above elbow level. Besides musculoskeletal disorder, nerve related disorders can also lead to difficulty in raising arm. Thus, consultation with an orthopedician is required initially to assess the musculoskeletal system. A clinical assessment of the region is necessary for exact diagnosis and thus management. .
