What Causes Pain In Skin On Left Side Under Ribs?

Left side / Under Ribs / Skin Only / Just that area 8 across x 4 long / when rubbed cross way ok but rub Back to the Left / a stinging and Burning sensation accrues very Painful / Hurts all the Time / and only in that one area / Have been to the Doctors first week of June and the ER as of last night / Nothing / they ran blood work , urine / and had a ct Scan / still nothing , they gave a pain shot through the IV and it went away / But as of the Next day the Pain Returned . and it the skin only / Pressed on the Area no Pain , Would love to here what you guys have to say

Hello,

Pain on the left side commonly occurs when there is an inflammation or injury. It is commonly due to pulled muscle, nerve compression, pinch, costochondritis, muscle pain, IBS, etc. It can be due to bad posture, sitting for long hours in front of the PC, improper posture during sleeping, any past disease of the lungs, heart, stomach / abdomen, kidney, etc. You can take antacids, PPi's or pain relieving medicines (acetaminophen) to ease the pain.

Avoid constipation to reduce the symptoms of IBS, do not take food that does not suit your digestive system. Physical therapy, stretch exercises, massage, pain relieving balms and sprays are effective. You are suggested to make sure there is no injury of the ribs, ligaments, tendons or muscles before massaging. It may trigger the pain.
