What Causes Pain In Soft Palate While Eating Food?

So I have been having pain on the roof of my mouth when I eat. And in the back of my throat I can feel small holes with my tongue. I've been dealing with bulimia on and off for the last 6 years and know that it is a huge factor in just worried it's something more serious. I don't want to see my family doctor just yet (I don't want her to know I am still bulimic) but am starting to get nervous as this pain is everyday now

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems that due to Bulimia you have Acid Reflux problem which is seen commonly in Bullimic patients in which acid from stomach regurgitates into mouth and it can also occur in an attempt to vomit out the eaten food leading to chemical injury to the palate with the acid as well as there can be physical injury inflicted due to vigorous vomiting or inserting fingers in mouth to induce the vomiting..

This is leading to mucosal injury and inflammation and pain..

Nothing to worry about it and you should definitely consult your doctor as she is the best person to treat your problems relating to bullimia and pain in palate..

After a thorugh clinical examination she can advise you anti-depressants for treating Bullimia, for acid reflux Proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole, Omeprazole etc and antacids like Digene can be advised.
Drink plenty of water and take more of probiotics like Yoghurt..

For pain in palate gargle with a numbing solution containing Lignocaine.
Suck on ice pops for relief..
You can also take Ibuprofen that is an anti-inflammatory painkiller and will reduce pain and inflammation..
But all the medications and remedies should be taken after advise from your physician..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
