What Causes Pain In The Abdomen After Appendix Removal?
Hello, I was just released from an inpatient stay at the hospital. I had my appendix removed, a large cyst that was above my ovary and some other things (unknown) removed in that area. Prior to going into the hospital I had diarrhea for 2 weeks. Today marks 1 week since my surgery. I have noticed pain in my belly area, especially after I eat. I do feel nauseous most of the time. I was wondering if I have diverticulitis ?
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist,i can understand your concern. Pain in your belly area,is due to the surgical tube placed there for surgery. In laporoscopic surgery,a tube is inserted through the belly area. The pain will disappear in another weeks time.Keep walking around an hour. The bowel may be slow to get normal movements and nausea will disappear. Diverticulitis is not to be considered just now. The symptoms are different and the scan would've suggested it. You can take an anti-emetic tablet,if your nausea persists. Dr.Matthew J. Mangat.
