I m now just feeling adominal and lower back pain like I would when I get my period but I don t have my period. My period isn t due for two weeks. Please tell me the pill worked or am I pregnant?!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. *Emergency contraceptive is a high dose hormonal preparation & prevents pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of sex It is also known to cause withdrawal bleeding after 8-days of intake & delays normal period by 8-10 days. *Your symptoms of pain &excessive vaginal discharge suggest pelvic inflammation... which also can cause delay in menses. I would advise for internal check up by a gynecogist/get advised investigations done followed by antibiotic treatment as per need. Thanks.
