What Causes Pain In The Abdomen And Shoulder Blade?

Today while working at my computer, i had a sudden feeling across my abdomen that I would relate to snapping a rubber band. it was basically across my belly directly below my ribs. I had some increasing pain in the 30-45 minutes after that. It has subsided to a dull pain that feels a bit like gastritus. Now however, the pain feels as if its in my back 6 inches below my left shoulder blade. I am 57, 5ft. 9in and weigh about 175, non smoker. Should I be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
