What Causes Pain In The Ankles After Going For Aqua Zumba Classes?

Sorry to bother you. I am a 48 yr old female, 250 lbs, 5 5 . I have lost a couple of inches lately doing water zumba and feel confident that I will continue going 2 - 3 times a week. My concern is that my ankles hurt every day, all day, and my legs hurt every night and prevent me from sleeping. Are my bones just weary of carrying me around? Or could something else be going on that I need to get checked out? I am stiff in the mornings and I can barely walk down a set of stairs normally, even in sneakers.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to overuse of the joints. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

I also suggest hot showers to help with muscle relaxation. I suggest to rest and avoid physical therapy for some days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
