What Causes Pain In The Ankles While Suffering From Osteoarthritis?
I have osteoarthritis in my knees, bone on bone at each outside point. It has also caused me to become knock kneed. I am now experiencing pain at my outer ankle on one leg. I visited my orthopedic surgeon today who advised me that the ankle pain is a result of the mis-alignment of my knees (due to being knock kneed). He gave it a medical term and I didn t write it down, so I was hoping someone would be able to tell me the medical term for the condition at my ankle.

What Causes Pain In The Ankles While Suffering From Osteoarthritis?
Hello, The term you are looking for probably be “genu varum” it is due to secondary changes of arthritis. As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated. If medical management fails, surgical correction may be required. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
