What Causes Pain In The Arch Of The Foot?

Hello, I ve hurt my foot when out running. It felt like I had stood on a rock in the arch of my foot. The pain is above my arch but on the inside of my foot and it feels swollen at the one point and I can t put much weight on it. This was a week ago and it s not improved. I m worried it s a stress fracture or a torn ligament. I haven t seen my doctor yet due to work commitments and trying to get an appointment. I had hoped it would have improved by now. Is there anything I can do to relieve the pain until I see my doctor next week?

Hello, Thanks for the query.
If the pain and swelling have not gone, or as severe as earlier, then there is a possibility of either a hairline fracture or a ligament injury or both. So it is essential that an X- ray is done to rule out the fracture. The foot needs to be rested. Apply ice pack daily twice, use a ankle brace or ankle and foot support till you see your doctor. You also take Ibuprofen two or three times a day along with ice application. Do not strain the foot. Thanks.
