What Causes Pain In The Arm After Receiving A Pneumonia Vaccination Shot?

I had a puenomonia vaccine in October 2017 and approx. 6 hours later I experienced complete shut down and excruciating pain in the arm where the shot was administered...since then I have lost some mobility in that arm with flair ups where intense pain and zero use of that arm takes place...why?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Though a little pain and soreness after intramuscular injection is normal and subsides on its own, in your case, the pain you are describing seems more than normal. Moreover, loss in mobility of the arm warrants further investigation. The most likely cause of this could be a faulty injection technique. I would advise you to ice the area and take an over the counter painkiller like aceclofenac for temporary relief from pain. Get yourself checked by a physician as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
