What Causes Pain In The Back And Stomach Along With Fever?
MY FATHER HAS BEEN HAVING BACK PAIN/STOMACH PAIN. RUNNING A 100-102.5 DEGREE FEVER FATIGUE NAUSEA VOMITING CHILLS. HAS ALREADY BEEN TO THE DOCTOR TWICE AND ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL ONCE. HE WAS FINE WHEN THEY RELEASE HIM. THEY SAID THEY BELIEVE IT WAS PANCREATITIS. HE IS 67 YEARS OLD. HAS SOME SPOTS ON HIS LIVER AND LUNG BIOPSY ON LIVER WAS INCONCLUSIVE AND WAITING ON THE RESULTS FROM THE LUNG BIOPSY. ALL HIS SYMPTOMS ARE BACK. HE USUALLY WAKES UP HURTING BUT AROUND MID DAY IS FILLING BETTER. THAT HASN T BEEN THE CASE THE PAST 2 DAYS. ANY ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO OR WHAT MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THIS.
Waiting for liver and lung biopsy reports may give conclusive results. However, in the meanwhile, taking plenty of rest, trying tepid sponging, drinking freshly squeezed lemonade and sucking on popsicles and lozenges or sour gummies, staying warm and keeping self hydrated with plenty of water and fluids, turning humidifier and heater in the room, etc. may help. Applying warm compresses over the area of pain, gentle massages with aromatic oils or apple cider vinegar/tea tree oil, etc. may be helpful as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Divya Teja Pasupuleti, General & Family Physician

What Causes Pain In The Back And Stomach Along With Fever?
Hi, Most common causes can be fatty liver with cirrhosis, that may be common when one may have been on alcohol for long, overweight/obesity, hepatitis in the past, etc. Another possible cause can be pancreatitis. Waiting for liver and lung biopsy reports may give conclusive results. However, in the meanwhile, taking plenty of rest, trying tepid sponging, drinking freshly squeezed lemonade and sucking on popsicles and lozenges or sour gummies, staying warm and keeping self hydrated with plenty of water and fluids, turning humidifier and heater in the room, etc. may help.
