Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain in my back left just under the rib cage. I have felt a lump now. I have had pain and thought I had a kidney infection except I don t have the symptoms of cloudy urine ect. When I picked up my grand daughter a month ago I got a sharp pain. If I push on the lump it is tender. Other symptoms would include sleeplessness, drinking more water. but mostly feeling the tenderness that would be similar to a kidney infection with some nausea.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Painful lump in abdomen (site is not clearly mentioned) requires clinical assessment and relevant investigations especially ultrasound abdomen. Ultrasound abdomen will determine organ which is enlarged. Depending on the organ enlarged appropriate management can be planned. Kidney lumps are not usually palpable and kidney infections are characterised by frequent burning urination. In addition, kidney infections do not cause pain in the kidney region. Thus, kidney infection is not a likely cause of lump and pain. Some other cause for lump and pain have to be looked for.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
