What Causes Pain In The Bottom Of The Feet Along With Swelling In The Ankle?

I am a 52 Yr.old women. I have pain in the bottom of my feet. When I stand on them it feels like they are bruised. After a few hours on them my ankles swell and the feet feel burning and tingling. Then my lower back starts to hurt and I ache from the waste down. I am over weight but this just started about a month ago and it seemseems to be getting worse. When I go to bed I can t sleep because my legs are aching and feet are burning. I also just kind of tingle and ache all over my body but just not bad like my feet and legs. Can you tell me what it might be.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The problem with the feet seems to be due to plantar fasciitis, but uric acid levels as well as B 12 and folic acid should be reviewed. Sugar levels and thyroid profile may also be needed. A detailed neurological examination specially sensory examination should be done.

If any ambiguity seen, should be confirmed with nerve conduction studies. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used for pain. For plantar issues an orthopedic surgeon review to see if any need of subcutaneous steroids present or supportive therapy may be sufficient.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
