What Causes Pain In The Calf While Suffering From Mononucleosis?

My daughter has mono, it started January 30. Wednesday March 1st she was just walking and now she has pain in her left calf , it goes from the ankle all the way to her knee. Her calf is swollen. I took her back into the DR. yesterday, they did a blood test and said she does not have a clot, just keep it elevated and it should go away. This morning she couldn t stand on her leg. She said last night she was awoke twice with a sharp pain in her calf it lasted aprox 1-2 min. then the pain was still the same, just an ache all of the time. Made worse by walking, she said it even hurts when she touches it. any clue?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Calf pain may be due to myositis or due to deep vein thrombosis or cellulitis.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Get it done color doppler of the lower limb.

Use tramadol.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
