What Causes Pain In The Calves And Behind The Thighs?
My sister is 42 & pretty healthy but is having achy type pain in her calf & even up into the back of her thigh & says it is not like a muscle strain or soreness but more of an constant achiness & says it s been going on for more than a week but is bothering her more today. I m just wondering if she could possibly have a blood clot? Or is there something else it could be? It is not red or swollen or warm to the touch that she can tell & no other symptoms. My email is YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Apart from muscle ache and blood clots, there are the other numerous reasons like spinal cordnerve compression, deficiency of zinc and other micronutrients which can give pain in calves and behind the thighs.
I recommend a thorough history, physical examination, evaluation with blood and radiology parameters to conclude the diagnosis and further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
