Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Centre Of Sternum While Coughing After A Fall?
Four days ago I fell backward and landed head first from 10 feet. My neck buckled and both my back and especially my sternum have pain when I cough. I have headaches after simple movement in my house. I have been resting at home since my return from the ER. CT scans and MRI show only a fracture to # 7 transverse process. I am most concerned with the sharp pain at the center of my sternum with a cough or belch. My strained back and neck muscles feel best sitting somewhat reclined in the lazyboy.
I think the pain can be related to the trauma you had. I think you should also do a x-ray of the neck to check for spondyloarthrosis because it can be causing the headache.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
