What Causes Pain In The Chest After An Injury?

I tripped and fell a few minutes ago. I was carrying a plastic tote which helped break my fall but I landed on my left side on the tote. I hit my left breast and am experiencing pain in my left chest area. It hurts while I am sitting still but even more when I move. Could I have cracked a rib?

Hi
Thanks for asking to HCM.

If you are experiencing pain during movement and also with deep respiration, you should contact orthopedic doctor. He will confirm whether it's broken rib by doing chest x-ray. So my advice is to take appointment of ortho surgeon as early as possible.

Thanks.
