Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I feel little pain at my chest just after meal. Pain (dull ) persists 2 to3hr.no pain after 3hr and hungry ,at that time I want to eat but I scare to eat.Nexpro40mg two times a day before meal for 5 days. The symptoms are not release. ,so I want to take pantocid instead of nexpro
It is possible that your symptoms are due to GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) which is the reason that your doctor would have suggested the nexpro.
Nexpro and pantoprazole (found in pantocid) are in the family of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. These medications work to decrease the acid being produced by the stomach but they cannot get rid of the acid that is already there.
This means that sometimes they can take up to 7 days to take effect. You may want to consider waiting another few days to see if your symptoms improve. You can consider a medication like tums or dica for the next few days till the nexpro takes effect
If there is no improvement by day 7, then you can switch
I hope this helps
