Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started having pain in my chest, upper left side near my shoulder, last night before bed. It was difficult to take a deep breath. When I did, I experienced very sharp pain. It got worse through the night, and laying down made it worse. I thought it might be gas, so I drank a 7-up and took a Phasym for gas. No change. It hasn t gone away today, but the symptoms lessoned during the day. It seems to be getting worse again as I prepare for bed. I now feel it in my shoulder and neck, as well. Especially when I take a deep breath. I live in the country. I am a 49 year old male in pretty good shape. (5.5 & 130 lbs.). No history of high blood pressure. Never smoked. Do not drink. Never any drugs. Your advice would be appreciated.
I carefully passed through your question and would explain that your symptoms do not seem to be related to any cardiac disorder (including coronary artery disease).
A musculo-skeletal pain seem to be the main cause of all this clinical scenario.
I recommend taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the pain and avoid straining physical activity.
If the problem persists, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam, a shoulder X ray study, a chest X ray study and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, inflammation tests).
Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards!
Dr. Iliri
