Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having pains in my chest, shoulder and neck, I got it checked with my GP and had a test which ruled out any cardiac issues. I was told it could be a trapped nerve which seems to have similar symptoms, I am now finding it difficult to breathe when laying down, almost like I can t get enough air. Any ideas of what it could be?
I will try to make it as simple as possible.
According to your case as you said your GP ruled out cardiac cause but I need to know which test your GP did?
Secondly, what is your age or are you diabetic or hypersensitive? High blood pressure.
The information you provided there can be 2 or 3 possible causes.
1. It can be angina pectoris if the pain does not change with changing your posture or position. for that you need exercise tolerance test and if positive you need nitrates. which increase blood supply to your heart.
2. it can be your nerve compression or cervical spondylosis for that you need pain killer with collar this pain is usually associated with change of your posture and position.
3 . You shortness of breath can be due to pain as you breath it put strain on your muscle of neck shoulder and chest which resist to expand your lung fully because of pain which can be solve with pain killers.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
