What Causes Pain In The Chest Upon Breathing?

I have been having sharp twinges in my chest for over a week now. They come on and off, and hurt a lot. It started at the bottom of my right lung, and has now moved up and left. When the pain starts, it hurts to breathe. Last night, I had been trying to sleep when I felt a painful, quick pulsation on the left side of my neck that lasted for almost over ten seconds. Can you help me figure out what it is?
