Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Chest Upon Deep Breathing?
I ve been having upper chest pain right side breast area. It hurts more when a deep breath is taken. I have had blood work and scan that revealed nothing. All test come back normal. This morning pain has persisted and is about an 8 when normally 2-3. Any insight?
It would be very useful to know: your age if you are male or female if you suffer from some basic disease and your occupation (job activity).
Also if you have any increase in the volume of that area and difficulty breathing (which I do not think since you have not mentioned).
This pain that you mention related to respiratory movements, probably speaks to us about an intercostal neuritis.
I am oriented towards this diagnosis since you mention also, having done blood studies and scans, which did not reveal anything.
Even orienting me towards this diagnosis with only data that you give me if I were your doctor, the best thing for me would be to do a good physical exam and be more accurate.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Luis Alberto Urdaneta Arenas, General & Family Physician
