What Causes Pain In The Chest While Suffering From Tachycardia?
Yes I have Tacycardia and a fib I have been on Atenolol for about 30 years and it keeps my heartbeat regular. I was recently hospitalized for vascular spazms in my aorta valve. It felt like a heart attach. The pain was in my chest and went to my left arm down to my hand where my fingers looked blue and the pain also went up the left side of my neck and jaw. The Dr. Is treating me by cutting my Atenolol from 50mg to 25 and at night I take 2.5 of Norvask. The plan is to ween me off of Atenolol and just take Norvask. But so far it s been 3 days and my heart is racing but the Norvask seems to help the spasms. My Dr. Said if my heart races then they have to get rid of this plan and come up with another. I m so confused and scared. Please give me some advise. I would appreciate any advise. Thank you.
This is a case of angina pectoris due to narrowing of blood vessels in the heart. As a result, the heart has no other option than to pump fast to keep blood flowing. The typical signs are the pain in the chest, shoulder, arm, fingertips.
As you are on drug therapy to control the racing heart, however, you definitely need to see a good cardiologist get your self-examined and you may also need a change of drugs or dosage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
