General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pain in the chest (behind chest bone) can be a sign of reflux esophagitis secondary to excessive caffeine intake & in that case, it should go away after stopping caffeine.

The esophageal damage already caused can be eased by having bland, frequent & small servings of food. Sucking over the counter Gellicil pills would help. Go for the stress test already planned if pain still persists after weaning off caffeine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
