Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
yes, my 17-year-old daughter suddenly is experiencing ear pain accompanied by cheek and neck pain...but mostly the ear. Hurts mostly to chew. It is causing her to cry and moan which is very unusual. I put garlic oil in her ear, she took ibuprofen, but nothing is helping. It s been going on for about an hour. YYYY@YYYY
The symptoms are pointing more towards problem with the TMJ or the jaw joint.. As the jaw joint and ear are very close to each other therefore pain originating from jaw joint can be misdiagnosed with ear pain.. So it is advisable to get his ear examined at the emergency room.. If there is no infection then straight away go to a Dentist and get her jaw joints examined along with a Panoromic x ray. Once the problem is ruled out it can be treated accordingly.. As of now give her soft diet and preferably semi solid foods and along with it give her sufficient rest,, Painkillers like Advil can be taken if pain is annoying..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
