What Causes Pain In The Elbow And Weakness In The Arm?
Been having aching in my elbow, the worse it gets as the day goes on and gets really weak in that arm and gets too painful to lift anything. It is my dominant arm. The pain will sometimes shoot up to my wrist. then its a constant ache until the next morning then it is usually fine with very minimal aching Sorry, i m a single mother with 0 insurance and 0 help so I can t pay for your thoughts. Thank You
It is possible that the pain may be due to inflammation of the tendon that inserts to the bone in that area or inflammation of the bony area itself. The shooting aspect of the pain may mean that the nerves are involved, this can be temporary and may resolve as the inflammation resolves.
Main treatment may consist of rest (need to reduce the use for 1 to 2 weeks) and the use of anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Cataflam, Celebrex, etc. A warm compress to the area may also help as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
General & Family Physician
