Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Eyes After Taking Restasis?
I was given Restasis for dry eye 10 weeks ago. I continue to have problems after I use it. My eyes sting for hour, my nose start to run, my eyes get red. I also have had 4 UTI/bladder infection. When I was reading about side effects for cyclosporine it mentioned possible kidney problems. Several years ago I was give Celebrex which caused kidney damage. I saw a nephrologist for a couple years and he said I didn t need to come back again. My kidneys were functioning at 65% and he said that was good. My question now is should I see the nephrologist now with what is happening? I am 66 years old.
I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to Restasis adverse effects.
For this reason, I would first recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests:
- Complete blood count
- Kidney and liver function tests
- An abdominal ultrasound
- Aurine analysis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
