What Causes Pain In The Feet And Swollen Legs Post Lumbar Fusion Of L3 To L5?

I had lumbar fusion of L3 to L5 back in the end of May, I had been doing pretty good although I have never been without pain after walking or standing for a time. I kind of over-exerted myself a few weeks ago and now I am left with numbness and pain in my feet and swelling legs. I m not sure if i should see my neurosurgeon or PCP or what to do but its bad.

Hi,

Actually the problem has started with fusion of lumbar vertebrae which has ultimately resulted in root compression and now the condition which is called radiculopathy. You need to immediately consult your neurosurgeon and an orthopedician to see what are the chances of getting well after surgery. Meanwhile a Physiotherapist can help you in relieving some of the symptoms with machines and physical excercise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
