What Causes Pain In The Feet Whie Recovering From Shingles?
Thanks. I am recovering from a fourth bout of shingles and am dealing with PHN big time. A new pain is causing me distress in my foot, of all places. I can t figure if it s because I ve been immobile for a long time or if it s from shingles. Meanwhile, this is the worst attack I ve had so far. So frustrating and a big disappointment in my life. But things could be worse. At least I have feet! Question: Gabapentin. What s the impact on the liver at 300 mg 3x a day? Andrea Hal
Since you have a history of Shingles, your immunity is compromised & pain can be due to the peripheral neuropathy. Get physically examined, get done Blood, Imaging tests & Nerve Conduction tests at the earliest. Get evaluated, get treated.
You can apply Capsaicin cream that causes improvements in the peripheral nerves, take NSAIDS for pain, Electrical Nerve Stimulations & physiotherapy are equally effective. No cases of liver toxicity with Gabapentin has been reported though the study is still under research. You are suggested not to become entirely dependent upon medications but lead a healthy lifestyle & never take over doses of any medication.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
