General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain and locking at the elbow joint points towards a diagnosis of elbow arthritis. It can be diagnosed by an x-ray of the elbow joint. I would advise you to get yourself checked by an orthopedic for proper diagnosis. Meanwhile, you should apply heat and ice in the affected area alternately for loosening joints and stiff muscles. You can also take over the counter painkiller like Advil or naproxen to relieve inflammation and pain. If not relieved by conservative measures, your doctor may advise you cortisone shot which will give you temporary relief. He may also advise splints and braces. Surgeries like Elbow Arthroscopy may be advised depending on the severity of the condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
