What Causes Pain In The Groin Area?

I was told in Oct. have Bursitis in both hips, early November spondylolisthesis, and on 11-26-16 at ER that have problems with Sciatic nerve. Since then having more trouble walking and pain in groan area and bottom of of my butt. Today I could not even walk. What I need to know is what kind of doctor do I see for this? Was told by another doctor to see an Orthopedic doctor. Is he right?

Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, yes an orthopaedic surgeon can be the right person but the neurosurgical review may also be needed. Local X-rays of hip joint as well as lumbar spine may be needed.

If unremarkable CT scan or MRI may also be needed. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used for symptomatic relief.

If pain is severe more potent analgesics like tramadol or gabapentin may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
