What Causes Pain In The Head Around The Right Parietal Lobe Upon Movements?

I had bilateral reduction mammaplasty surgery on Thurs. I ve been off pain meds since Sun. My head hurts (to touch and movement forwards/backwards) right parietal area. The only thing that bothers me post surgery is my head. I don t typically get headaches and I m not on any meds except Keflex. The pain appears to be getting progressively worse since I first noticed it Friday.

Hi,

I normally recommend post-surgical patients contact their surgeon with any new postoperative symptoms. But headaches are generally a primary care issue and usually associated with tension or migraines which is certainly plausible for you given the position your head was probably in during your several hour surgery.

Your headaches sound a little more concerning to me without a headache history. You should be concerned for blood clots which are always a postoperative concern. I would recommend urgent evaluation to rule out the more dangerous cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. David Hoch, Internal Medicine Specialist
