What Causes Pain In The Heel Of The Left Foot?

Hello. 3 years ago I broke my left ankle. there is a steel plate in my ankle. Lately I have had so much pain in my heel on the bottom of my foot that I can hardly bare it. It is so painful by the end of the day I want to chop it off. Do you think the plate has anything to do with the pain or is there something else. I am 54 years old and weigh 175. 5 2. Had a stroke a year ago. Just wondering if it could be a fracture or something to do with the plate.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your query.I suggest that you should go in for a X-Ray of the left foot to rule out a fracture or a calcaneal spur. You can take a alternate hot & cold compress of the foot.Use a heel pad.
