Hi,
It looks like from history that this pain is related to
lumbar spine inter vertebral
disc disease. If there is changes in the lumbar spine normal curvature and also the changes in the position of the
intervertebral disc at different levels the different symptoms are produced like - pain,
tingling, numbness, etc.
Pain can be radiating in nature like starting from the lower back towards the hip, thigh, leg and foot. It can be unilateral as well as bilateral depending upon the nerve root entrapment in the lumbar spine region due to disc degeneration or
disc prolapse or herniation.
Taking up an MRI will be guided as painkillers and steroids or any anti inflammatory drug is for symptomatic relief. Due to the nerve root entrapment there is weakness in the paraspinal muscles, muscles of the back and the lower limbs. Having an MRI can help understand the probable
nerve root compression.
Based on the clinical examination and assessment of the muscles there will be a need to under go a physiotherapist guided expert exercises for long term avoiding of the pain and other symptoms. In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most cases which provide symptoms like you are treated with
physiotherapy post clinical examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
