What Causes Pain In The Hip Flexor Area?

Pain in hip flexor area but I do not have all the symptoms of a hip flexor injury. (Does not bother me to walk up and down stairs, I can raise my knee up, ...). Been to PT and three doctors. None could diagnose. I have not exercised in 9 months. When I bend or squat doing yardwork the area (I assume) gets inflamed and I have pain the next day. The pain is intense in the hip flexor area but if I wait a few minutes I can walk again. Sitting irritates the area as well. Standing at a desk, when I eat, ... seems to help. However, I have tried rest, PT, ice, heat, ... but it will not heal. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time. Brian Farrell

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a hip flexor strain. I suggest using a muscle relaxant such as Baclofen three times a day. I also suggest using magnesium supplement and warm compresses for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
