What Causes Pain In The Hip Joints?

I have been having hip joint pain that sometimes radiates down back of leg. I also have some painthat radiates up into the base of my skull on same side as hip pain. Is this a hip issue or nerve issue? The pain in my hip came on suddenly about a month ago. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The hip joint pain you feel radiating sometimes down back to the leg could be sciatica pain. X-ray of hip joint and lower back is recommended as this has been going on for a month now. As you experience pain inside the skull, MRI of spinal cord and head is recommended to determine the right diagnosis. Compression of nerves coming from spinal cord is suspected and need to further examine.

For the moment, take OTC pain killers. If overweight, try to reduce weight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
