What Causes Pain In The Hip Radiating To The Ankle?

I have pain in my left hip that radiates down by leg to the ankle. I wake up early with a lot of pain that will not subside. We thought it was bursitis in my hip. I had a cortisone shot but it didn t help. Where do I go from here? Thanks Dee Vita YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You should visit a GP, get all blood & Imaging tests (to detect herniated disc or bone spur) done to detect the pathology causing you the pain & discomfort. It looks like Sciatica pain, but it can be due to other medical conditions like OA, RA or even bursitis.

For pain you can take NSAIDS (Naproxen or Combiflam), one SOS when needed. Get detected & treated at the earliest. Avoid sedentary lifestyle, do exercise, eat healthy, avoid addictions if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
