What Causes Pain In The Hips And Groin?

Hi, I just had to go to the doctors for something and now I think I have to go back for the same thing but they re completely different. I just went to the doctors for a rash on my left buttocks that the doctor thought is either herpes or shingles. I am now having hip pain, thigh pain and groin pain on the same side. The hip and groin pain is usually only severish if I put weight on it. The leg pain feels like cramps on the side of my leg and slightly on my lower back towards my left side. My groin has also started to kind of feel like cramps. I don t know if I should go to the doctors because a lot people say its just leg cramps? Is this severe enough to go to doctors?

Hello,

In my opinion, you should get a check as there was a suspicion. It will be safer for you. I suggest some tests:

1. Tzanck smear
2. VZV-specific IgM antibody

You can also go to any hospital or clinic to get VARICELLA ZOSTER LIVE(ATTENUATED) ANTIGEN 19400[PFU] in 0.65mL. It is the vaccine.

Meanwhile, you can start Acyclovir 800 mg orally every 4 hours 5 times a day for 7 days.

You can also apply Acyclovir Topical to the rash. If the leg cramp occurs, you can take CARISOPRODOL 250mg at bedtime, for 2 weeks.

Eat a healthy diet, drink adequate water, juice, light diet, take rest. Do the test and post here in HCM. Any doctor here can follow you up. DO not worry. Already treatment has been started.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
